Project:

Del Valle Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

Location:

Livermore, CA

Role & Description:

Acting as a Field/Office engineer with Psomas (previously The Covello Group), my team and I worked as consultants with the Zone 7 Water Agency (Del Valle Water Treatment plant) to complete this capital improvement project. The overall intent of the project was to install and integrate a modern ozone system to improve the taste and odor of the public drinking water in the area. This involved installing a concrete ozone contact structure, new ozone generators, Ozone destruction units, rerouting the large diameter underground intake piping, recoating the filter media beds, and replumbing the carbon filter underdrains.

My role had an emphasis on following the plans and specifications of the job. This involved:

  1. Coordinating team meetings with the project owners, engineers, and contractors

  2. Outages planning & documentation - creating System Outage Requests

  3. Reviewing Submittals and sending them to the engineer

  4. Reviewing RFIs and submitting them to the appropriate party to get answers

  5. Inspecting and documenting contractor work and progress

  6. Providing necessary answers to field design questions

  7. Maintain up-to-date as-builts using construction software (Procore)

  8. Designing the design and specifications for the grading and paving for access to the water district’s service water pump station
